Together for an inclusive community.

More About Tony (in 500-or-so words or less)

Saskatoon has been a major part of my story. In fact, I’ve lived and built much of my life in this wonderful city. Saskatoon is my place of birth; it’s where I was educated (at the University of Saskatchewan) and raised a family. Speaking of, I’d like to introduce you to both Nili (my partner and rock, I’d be pretty lost without her), and my son, Michael (who is currently enrolled at the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan). He’s a pretty smart and well-adjusted young man and the pride of my life. Here they are (and me, too, for good measure):

Over the years, most of my professional life has been working in the non-profit sector. Why that sector? Mainly because the work helps, in big and little ways, to improve the lives of people, especially those underserved or forgotten. I’ve had the honour of working for great organizations like Inclusion Saskatchewan, The Saskatchewan Abilities Council, and United Way of Saskatoon. I’m currently working for Genome Prairie and also as a casual instructor at Sask Polytech.

I’ve long held the belief in giving time back to the community. Over the years, I’ve volunteered for the Saskatoon Baseball Association, the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival and the Saskatoon Folk Fest. Currently, I’m serving as a board member for The People Bridge Advocacy, a Saskatoon-based non-profit that works on providing programming and supports for new-landed Canadians, the city’s Indigenous community, and underserved individuals and families. I’m also serving as an executive member of the Nutana Community Association.

I’ve been pretty lucky. Like, really lucky. I’ve had the great fortune of being a Canadian and a citizen of Saskatoon, which has given so much to me and the people I love. All this good fortune is a major reason why I’m running for Saskatoon City Council. I want to give back to and serve my community. I want to work hard to help improve the lives of our citizens, and I want to represent the best interests of our Ward.

That’s why I’ve focused my campaign on one word: Together. I sincerely believe that together, we can work on making our Ward and our city more inclusive, resilient and ready for all the challenges ahead.

Oh, and here’s Tiber, our dog. I can’t forget about him. He’s a sweetheart.
